July 17 - Wessex Rose and North Church

After breakfast Mary took a short walk into North Church for some exercise and to get pictures of any items that caught her fancy.  These included the North Church,

a community garden,

 and a pretty village.

Then we headed out on our 2+ mile per hour cruise.  Some time was spent walking the tow paths and working the locks.

David "working" the locks.
Bill and Sue (and occasionally Mary) spent a lot of time walking the tow paths and helping with the locks.  Phyllis observed.

It is pretty along the canals with old buildings

and stone bridges (some very low),

and the lovely Wessex Rose.

We saw a fair amount of water fowl including a reasonable number of swans.

There were a lot of boats moored along the banks of the canal...

as well as many stretches where it seemed that we were the only ones on the canal.

The vegetation along parts of the canal were a bit overgrown and in need of trimming back.

After mooring for the evening the local dogs checked out the Wessex Rose (probably scenting dinner),

and we saw a young man and his dad having a successful evening fishing.
