July 18 - Wessex Rose and the Whipsnade Lion

One of the highlights today was getting some very good views of the Whipsnade Lion.  It is one of the large images that are carved into the white chalk hillsides around England.  Last trip we saw one of the horses, this time the lion.  It is a full side view of the lion in full stride and is complete with mane and tail.  It was just restored this year so was a very vibrant white.

Otherwise the rest of the day was leisurely and friendly and relaxing.

We moored overnight at a town with an odd name, Leighton Buzzard.  Love some of the place names.

Dinner tonight featured a dessert called Eton Mess...apparently originally featured at Eton College.
